Oscillators

Its Sylenth1 core houses 4 uncontested unison oscillators that generate analog waveforms. Each oscillator is capable of producing 8 unison voices in full stereo, adding a total of up to 32 voices per note. With 16 note polyphony, you can play up to 512 voices simultaneously! The oscillators perform very well in both very low (down to 0.01Hz and below!) and very high (up to half-sampling) frequency regions, without losing their sharpness, liveliness or character. This makes them well suited for all kinds of sounds, from the deepest bass imaginable to the highest, crystal clear bells.

Filters

In addition to this there are 2 modern, purely analog audio filter sections. Each one consists of 4 filter stages with nonlinear saturation enabled, in order to emulate the heat and drive of a real analog filter. The resonance control can be raised beyond self-oscillation, and in combination with drive control this allows SCREAM filters to pass! Where many digital filters sound like they’re made of cheap plastic, these filters sound gritty, warm, and raw.

Modulation

Sylenth offers a variety of modulation options to sculpt the sound just the way you like it. There are 2 ADSR envelopes and 2 LFO envelopes that can be used to modulate a whole range of different parameters. In addition, the additional 2 amplitude shells, speed, keyboard track, or modulation wheel can be used as a modulation source.

FX Master

The last part of this synthesis is the main effects section. A set of 7 professional sound effects and arpeggiator, conveniently grouped into an LCD panel structure.

  • Arpeggiator – 10 different melodic modes, built-in step sequencer with adjustable step, speed and hold settings. Outputs step speed as a modulation source.
  • Distortion – Five different types of distortion (overdrive, flyback, clip, decimator and bitraiser) in full stereo, uses 4x oversampling to minimize anti-aliasing artifacts.

  • Delay – Delay module with low and high pass filters, unique echo smear feature, ping pong mode with stereo unwinding, independent left and right delay times and adjustable stereo width.
  • Reverb – Smooth reverb with adjustable pre-delay, dampness, size and stereo width.
  • Compressor – A stereo compressor with attack, release, threshold and ratio settings that can be used to increase the punch, drive, warmth and analog feel of your sounds.

Performance

With all the functionality and processing power mentioned above, you’d expect this synth to max out even the fastest processor in no time, especially considering the high sound quality of every single voice and effect. Well, one of the many benefits of this synth is that it doesn’t. It uses highly optimized code and SSE instructions to keep CPU usage to a minimum. It will also automatically turn off all unused parts to save additional CPU time. This allows you to create pure quality sound using only minimal system resources.
